Samsung 12-inch NC20 Netbook

samsung nc20 netbook

Announcing the 12-inch, fat-batteried NC20, Samsung has become the very first major netbook manufacturer to adopt the uber hot VIA Nano platform. The Samsung NC20 netbook fits in between netbooks powered by Intel Atom and other more powerful systems, bringing you a stellar combination of productivity, performance, and style.

The Samsung NC20 has specs that are decidedly un-netbooklike. In addition to the 1.3GHz VIA Nano ULV U2250 processor and a choice of XP Home, the specs are like that of straight laptop: a 160GB HDD (and an SSD option), 1GB of high speed RAM, a 6-cell battery with a promise of over 6.5 hours of operation, and a generously resolved 1280X800 LCD. The netbook also has uncompromised set of adapters, ports, and inbuilt accessories.

Including the six-cell battery, the Samsung NC20 netbook weighs 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg). As for one of the most important details, Samsung has yet to announce the price. Therein lies the rub: the Samsung NC20 netbook will almost certainly be expensive. Having said that, if they can chip away at the $650 rumor price by a c-note or so, Samsung might have a strong fighting chance. Read more »

solar bag

With the ever increasing awareness about the environment, manufacturers are coming up with more and more environment-friendly products. The "go green" catchphrase was all around the 2009 CES, where solar bag producer, Voltaic Systems, publicized the release of its laptop charging solar bags. These bags feature a lithium-ion battery inside them as well as adapters for different devices.

Many laptop users have been waiting for this kind of product. The Voltaic Systems Generator Laptop Solar bag features an integrated 14-watt solar panel (a significant upgrade from Voltaic Systems' current 4-watt bags), allowing you to charge your notebook and other devices such as cell phones and iPods. The first of its kind, the bag generates maximum power within the limited space by using high efficiency solar cells.

The solar bag's setup appears similar to the current bags in that it is manufactured using fabrics that are made up of recycled soda bottles. This makes the bag tough, waterproof, and resistant to UV. If you're ready to power up your laptop using solar energy, you'll have to wait a little longer. The shipping will start later this spring.
